Let’s talk meal planning for a moment…
If you are in my shoes you do the cooking and meal planning in your home. Oh precious sister what an important job we have on our hands! We fill the bellies of the sweet ones we love…it’s our jobs to fuel them up and teach them to make healthy choices. It’s our job as chef to feed them what makes them strong (yes that means spinach)! In our house this has become one of my greatest priorities.
With all of that said we all have our excuses of “I don’t have time” or “I don’t know what to make” or one of my excuses “it’s to expensive”…one thing that a friend of mine and our family chiropractor reminded me of is that there are no excuses good enough…my family deserves to be healthy and it starts with me.
So here I am on this journey to makeover my pantry, my fridge, and how I cook. The biggest challenge is budget…I’m finding ways to eat clean and healthy on a budget with a family of 5…I’m starting with a meal plan; I have planned every meal, and every snack for the next month and based my grocery list off my meal plan. With healthy foods there are no coupons, and being that it is winter there are no farmers markets…we go with what’s on sale. Meal planning allows you to stick to your list and if your kids are like mine there is never a question about what’s for dinner.
I build my grocery list based off the menu and avoid buying anything extra…especially sweets (I don’t even keep them in the house anymore…to tempting) check back Saturday on my weekly wrap up to see next weeks meal plan!
How do you tackle the grocery budget and eat healthy? What money saving tricks do you have up your sleeve?
