Does this thought challenge you?
He knows me, loves me and He knows my motives.
Sit with that that thought for a moment and then lets talk about it my friend….
“Father, you know us in secret, and you know all our secret places.
What we do to benefit your kingdom will not be lost if it is not seen by others,
for you see and you reward according to your grace and mercy.
Strengthen us to do good works, visibly or invisibly, always in your name.”
– GK Chesterton
As I studied with She reads truth this week I was challenged by Psalm 139 (which is by far my favorite Psalm) my heart is overwhelmed by the love of God! Grab your coffee and lets walk through this together…
He knows us…. (verses 1 & 13-14)
“O Lord you have searched me and known me!”
“For you created my inmost vein; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Yes Sister, God knows you! You are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Master and He knows everything about you. He has even counted the hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30)…I am certain He knows more about me than I know about myself, He knows my past, present and yes friend He knows my future. He knows what I love and what I am not so crazy about; He knows what brings me joy and sadness, He knows what my heart needs and exactly when it needs it….He knows me better than anyone.
He loves us….(verses 17-18)
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.”
Can I just tell you how much your precious Father loves you? There are so many verses that I could share with you that are just about God’s love for you…yes you…He loves you with an amazingly fierce love…look at all He has done for you. I love these two verses because they speak to my heart. How do you know when someone loves you? I think about when I first met my husband and I was consumed by him, I thought about him all the time, I probably talked about him to everyone I met….that sweet man had me hook, line and sinker…(he still does by the way) God loves us like that but even more so! It says His thoughts of us are more than the grains of sand! Sister you are so loved by God, with a love that will NEVER end….His love doesn’t waver when we mess up or when we fall, His love is just the same and it picks us up and brushes us off and tells us to keep walking! He loves you with a powerful love…
He knows our motives….(verse 23-24)
Here is the challenge…. He knows us, He loves us, and He knows our motives….
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts, See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
God knows our hearts and what drives us. We are called to serve, we are called to study His word, we are called to pray and talk to our Heavenly Father, we are called to be salt and light, we are called to make disciples, we are called to love others and forgive others just as Christ has done for us. Here is where the rubber meets the road….Why are we doing all of this?
Do we do it because we want people to see that we are doing things for God?
Do we do it because our friends are doing it?
Do we do it because thats what we grew up being taught?
Do we do it because it makes us feel better about ourselves?
Do we do it because we think it will earn us grace?
I could keep going…or Do we do it because God brought us from darkness into the light and our desire is to serve Him, to know Him, and to love Him? God knows what is really driving us day in and day out, He knows if what we are doing is really for Him or for ourselves. Only God knows our true motives (1 Corinthians 4:5)
Our motives are irrelevant without a relationship with Jesus Christ; not just knowing about Jesus but having a relationship with Him…Admitting we are sinners, believing that God is who He says He is, that He sent His sinless son to die on the cross for our sins and He rose again the third day, and confess our sins to God…”when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us…” (1 John 1:9)
I want to pray for you…I don’t know where you are with Jesus, or what is happening in your life but I want to pray for you if you are reading this…If there is something specific you would like me to pray about with you leave a note in the comments, I would love to pray for each of you by name, I know God knows who you are as you are reading this…I am praying for you.
