Wisdom…it seems illusive and extremely hard to get…
Something I seem to always be asking God for…after all His word says, if we lack it we should ask for it (James 1:5)
What is wisdom anyway?
The dictionary defines wisdom as…
: knowledge that is gained by having many experiences in life, the natural ability to understand things that most other people cannot understand, knowledge of what is proper or reasonable : good sense or judgment
Not one of those say that we will have all the answers when we have wisdom.
There seems to be so much going on in the news, which is nothing new because it is literally always something…it has been that way since time began…only news now travels just slightly faster. We are bombarded with information, news stories, hashtags, trending now…NOISE. My brain most of the time has a hard time responding to all the information that it is given, and yes there are times where I turn it all off and just get back in my bubble with my family.
I read this quote this morning in my Bible study and it reminded me so much of where I am right now…I need wisdom. I think we all do, especially Christians. We need serious wisdom (good judgment) in how to respond to the things that we see happening around us. We need wisdom in our day to day interactions…and for crying out loud we need wisdom on how to act on social media before we tear apart the gospel with our actions and words. Yes we are facing new things everyday and yes things that go against the word of God but we need God’s wisdom as we step out and share Jesus. We need wisdom to help our lives reflect Christ. We need wisdom to teach our children how to love others, lean fully on the truths of God’s word, and wisdom to teach them to stand for what is right.
When we are afraid it shows, it reflects in our attitudes, our words, actions…etc.
We don’t have all the answers, we won’t. As Christians we trust God’s word to tell us what we need to know…but even His word says that God doesn’t think like we do and His ways are not like ours (Isaiah 55:8)
So here is where the rubber meets the road so to speak…God’s wisdom and understanding far exceeds ours. Yes things are happening around us, even things in our lives that maybe no one knows about…”Don’t be afraid of what you don’t know…God knows…Walk in His wisdom…” Trust God in all things because God knows where you are and what you need. He knows how this all plays out…trust in Him…He is enough.
