John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
I wanted to write a little in these days leading up to Thanksgiving and certainly like most writers we are discussing the topic of giving thanks-but it’s more than just giving thanks that I am writing about. It’s open hands of praise to God who is so very faithful. We have talked about 3 P’s leading up to Thanksgiving…God’s Provision, God’s Protection, and today we are talking about God’s Peace.
In John 14:27 Jesus is talking and he is telling us about the Holy Spirit that he will send to bring us peace, and not peace like the world would consider peace; peace that gives us assurance despite the circumstances. God’s peace is hope that despite a low valley we have the promise of eternity. God’s peace is despite a world filled with gloom and doom we have a very bright future. God’s peace unlike the world’s version of peace doesn’t promise a lack of conflict…it does promise however that we will have hope despite the conflict, despite the hurt, and despite the trails. Peace that this isn’t all there is, peace that no one can take from you. Peace that is in abundant supply from the Holy Spirit.
Give thanks for God’s provision, his protection, and his peace this Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
