Have you ever allowed God to show you one word or verse that would be your go to for the year? A word or verse that would remind you of where you need to be and what your year should be centered around. One you commit to memory and place where you can see it daily as a reminder of what your goals should be?
It isn’t a shallow on the surface word, but a deep word that has so much more meaning in your everyday life than just what is on the surface. We spend a lot of time in the new year making resolution after resolution but in the end we ultimately fall short. Year after year I hear people making the same resolutions as the year before but never conquer what they have set out to do. I decided several years ago that I would never make another resolution in the new year but that I would set out to make goals of what I wanted to achieve and how I would go about getting there.
Looking back on the past year I cannot help but think that my goals absolutely exceeded my expectations, I even found new goals along the way that God put in my path. Walking into 2015 my primary goal was to get healthy and loose weight…I surpassed that goal and chose to keep it as a daily goal. When we set our sights on goals we are more likely to achieve them.
With a new year 2 days away we are looking into new possibilities and new ideas that haven’t even been thought of yet, and we look back on a year and remember what didn’t work and what did…the stuff we want to carry with us into a new year and the stuff that we want to leave behind. Our one little word for 2016 will give us focus for what is ahead, a word that sums up our year and what we hope to achieve with God’s grace. What is your word and verse for 2016?
