I am not good at this…
As flesh with feelings and emotions we so quickly get picked up in tidal waves and carried off in another direction. Often I see God working so hard and doing so many awesome things with someone else that I am standing here thinking….Does he really want to do anything with me?
God has done so many incredible things in my life and He always leads me where He wants me to go, and then I see someone else achieving something INCREDIBLE for the Kingdom. To be honest it stops me in my tracks and makes me think that I am doing nothing, accomplishing nothing, what I am doing isn’t all that great compared to them. I have struggled to see where God is leading or what He has next for me to do. Then this morning at the perfect moment, because He knew that this was exactly what I needed to hear from Him; John 21. This is why our time in the word is vital, He speaks to us.
As I finished up the book of John in chapter 21 I read the last 10 verses…Jesus is having a conversation with Peter on the shore…Jesus is giving him direction for the future so to speak…He is asking Peter to follow Him, follow His plan. Peter looks at John and says well what about that guy?
Jesus’ response “What is it to you what I do with him? I asked YOU TO FOLLOW ME.” (Michelle Paraphrase)
All the bells and sirens went off in my head all at once. I am being Peter. Why am I worried about someone else…I should rejoice with them as they serve the Kingdom, and I should remember that God asked me to follow Him, not follow someone else. Jeremiah 29:11 says “I know the plans I have for you..” The plans for us individually and collectively, we can’t forget that God will use each of us in a different way to achieve that plan.
