Driving home tonight looking ahead to the beautiful sunset, the rays of sun shining behind the clouds painting an incredible masterpiece of pinks, blues and grays. I don’t know about you but looking at a beautiful sky like that reminds me just how loved I am. It reminds me that my creator God loves me incredibly, that not only did He create it all but loved me enough to give His son for me. Easter is the love of God placed on a cross, offering salvation once and for all.
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
The entire gospel in one verse, the complete message of Jesus in just a few words. It is a verse that we hear so much, maybe even one that we know by heart but don’t fully grasp what it means. I want to take apart this verse with you today, I want us to really see what God is showing us in this incredible gospel message.
“For God so loved the world…” God’s love is incredible. God is the one who shows us what true love really is and how to live it out in our own lives. His love for us is far beyond explanation, but it is undeniable just how much He loves you and I. From the beginning of time before we were even born He had a plan in place to rescue us, to rescue us from death and destruction, and rescue us to be with Him always.
“that he gave his only Son…” God sent Jesus, fully God and fully man to walk the earth and to be the ultimate sacrifice for us. He was the payment for the messes that we make constantly. He is our stand in when we should have to pay our own price. His mercy and love is so great that He willingly gave His life for you and I. His death wasn’t the end of the story, after three days Jesus arose to life, He was seen by more than 500 people before He ascended to heaven to sit next to the Father and intercede for us.
“that who so ever believes in him…” This invitation is not limited, it is open and waiting for ANYONE who wants to accept it. There are no mistakes when God reaches out His hand to you and offers this gift. It doesn’t matter what you have done or where you have been. You have never been to bad or made to many mistakes, He is ready to forgive and love just as He always has.
“will not perish but have everlasting life.” Christ died to give us life, to give us hope, to give us an eternity with Him. This is a gift that is eternal, the gift is heaven. The gift is for you, it’s for right now. What better way to celebrate this Easter than accepting the perfect and ultimate gift of salvation. Sister you are loved by an incredible God, you are precious to Him.
Have you ever accepted the beautiful gift of salvation that Christ offers to you? The gift of a relationship with Jesus that will transform your life. If you have never accepted this gift, this could not be a more perfect day.Say this prayer with me; Lord, I am lost, I am a sinner and I am broken God, save me God, rescue me, and redeem me. Transform my life through your son Jesus who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Lord I give you my life, use me for your kingdom purpose God. Thank you for loving me and saving me Lord. In your precious son Jesus’ name, Amen. Did you pray that prayer and mean it whole heartedly? I want to hear from you so I can pray for you and with you.…I am rejoicing with you!
