Good Morning Friends!
We are starting a new book in our Bible Reading Plan (click the menu above to get your copy). It is exciting to start a new book and patiently wait to see what God has to show us as we turn each page.
Before we dive in lets get a little background on the book of Joshua, the context and maybe somethings that we will see in the next twenty-four chapters.
– Joshua is an Old Testament book (Don’t let that scare you)
-The purpose of the book of Joshua is to give the history of Israel conquering the promise land.
-The majority of the book was written by Joshua, though there is some thought that the end was written by an eye witness of the events that took place.
Don’t forget to use your 4 steps to Bible Study
-Pray – The first place to start when we sit down for Bible study is prayer. If we humbly align our attitude, heart and mind to receive God’s truth, the Holy Spirit will begin to pour understanding and wisdom into our lives.
-Read – Begin by reading one chapter each day. Don’t forget extra ways to study such as reading over sermon notes or supplemental Bible studies. Just remember, however, that our first priority should be reading God’s word itself.
-Write – Write down any verses that stand out and truths that God is teaching you. If there is scripture you do not understand, make a note of it so you can pray about it and dig further in a Bible dictionary or commentary.
-Apply – Remember to pray when you apply turning scripture you studied into prayer. Take the truths that God is teaching you a step further through Bible Journaling, outward actions, and service. Don’t be afraid to share what you are learning.
I cannot wait to see what you are taking away from Joshua…Don’t forget when you share on Instagram use #displayinggrace
