I have always loved summer time…mostly because it meant no school…
The older I get the less I like the heat but the more I love what the season brings with it. I have learned a lot can be accomplished during the summer we wouldn’t normally get done. We find more time to put fun activities into motion and look for intentional time to be together as a family.
The time as a family is great but another reason I love summer is it feels like a reset time. A time to flip a switch in my mind and recharge before school starts again and the busyness of life takes over…
If you have noticed things around here have been quiet and that has been intentional. There has been a reason why there have not been as many posts; I know that I am not the only one who values and treasures this time of summer…we owe it to ourselves and our families to disconnect from the world a bit to connect with our families…to connect with God…to connect with ourselves.
I am in deep need of a time of connection…Time can so quickly get away from us and we feel like we are hanging from a thread when it is all said and done.
I love the possibilities of summer, the longer days, the snuggles and fort building.
Hours spent reading, painting and trying new projects with the kids. I love Summer.
Looking for ideas to maximize your summer?
As a family make a Summer bucket list…fill a bright poster board with all the things that you want to accomplish this Summer…make them fun and family friendly…don’t forget to add pajama and movie day. That’s always my favorite.
Summer Reading isn’t just for the kiddos you know…we make a library trip every other week in the Summer and let the kids choose new books to read. Don’t forget books for yourself! I love to purchase my books so I can share with others when I am done reading them. Grab a stack and spend some much needed time reading! (You can follow along with what I am reading on Instagram @displayinggrace)
Last but not least, pick up a good Bible study to get you and your family in the Word this Summer…There are so many great choices out there…but if you are looking for a good and simple study, check out the Craving More challenge in the shop…it is a 21 day challenge of building a Bible study habit and can be done alone or as a family. While you’re there you can also pre-order the new Psalm 119 study – a 22-day study through Psalm 119!
I pray you all have a wonderful and restful Summer!
