I am writing to myself today but I certainly hope that if you are where I am that it will speak to your heart.
Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8
Fear is something I have a hard time shaking.
Over the years I really have struggled with anxiety and panic, and well if you have never really struggled with those two things it is really hard to explain what it does to your mind and how you function in life. Before I became a Christian I was so paralyzed by fear, it controlled my life. Now I am not saying that because I am a Christian now that I still don’t struggle with it, but it is different.
I have learned to put action to the scripture that God lays before me and I have learned to fully trust is promises to me…so when the anxiety or fear start to kick in I remind myself of those things. Now as a parent and watching the fears of my children I am reminded of how important it is to teach them that;
1) Fear doesn’t come from God *2 Timothy 1:6-7
2) God is always with you *Isaiah 41:10
3) Thankfulness will always erase anxiety *1 Thessalonians 5:18
When we spend our days in worry or anxiety we are loosing precious time around us. We can stand firm in the battle, because some days that is exactly what it feels like; a battle. We can have hope in knowing that He is with us and He gives us His word to speak to our hearts where we are and encourage us. He will lift us up and show us that we are fully loved and completely taken care of.
I love this quote from Charles Spurgeon because it reflects what our anxieties really do; “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.”
Have courage & quit worrying and remember we have no need to fear because He goes before us & with us, He won’t leave us!
Believe it and trust it!
