Read Psalm 119: 97-112
I am going to share a secret with you…
Are you ready?
I do not like when it is dark.
Ok, I hear you…What adult is afraid of the dark? Well, I am. I am not really sure why or where it came from but I just don’t like it. Believe me my secret-telling is related to where I am going with this…if it wasn’t then I am pretty sure I just embarrassed myself for nothing.
Before our life in Christ, we walked in darkness, not literal darkness but spiritual darkness. When we accept a relationship with Christ, we walk in the light, the light of Christ. Darkness is still a reality for those without Christ. Darkness is all they have ever known; they have never walked in light.
When the power goes out at night we are quick to grab a source of light; we reach for the closest flash light to guide us through an extremely dark house. God’s Word is our flashlight in the darkness.
What about our daily lives when we feel like the world is winning and we are loosing…when we feel like the darkness is getting to be to much? We have a light that illuminates the way.
Just like when we are in literal darkness there is a source of light, there is light that illuminates the path that we are walking every day…for every direction and uncertainty there is light to bring it out of darkness.
The Word of God provides that light to our path (Psalm 119:105).
When we find ourselves in need of light, it can be found in the Word of God. When we set our hearts on the Truth of God and meditate on His powerful Word, we will find the light in the darkness. We will be reminded of His promises because they are more than just simple words on a page; they are written on our hearts as children of God. We are reminded, and we are revived.
