I have failed to post the last two days for write 31…don’t worry I thought about it but had to give myself a little grace. Sickness happens.
I stand by the fact that sickness usually comes around when God says slow down. I am reminded of that after speeding and stressing through the week last week, combined with some pretty bad eating choices and my immune system officially said “I quit.”
Whether it is a cold or a more serious illness, sickness can literally stop you in your tracks. It can zap every bit of energy you have. I serve a creator who isn’t without reason, especially when it comes to our bodies. It’s God’s way of telling us to be still when we have been moving too fast.
Embracing God’s pace when sickness comes means that we look at it through His eyes and not our own. Being sick is inconvenient when we have a life to live and things that need to be done. But what if we see it through God’s eyes…see that it is a call to change our pace and shift our focus from being busy to being restful, then we will learn something in the sickness.
So often we forget to think of health when we think of God’s pace. Our health is important, healthy choices are important. So here I am…on my couch with hot tea, a warm blanket and rest. It is certainly not what I planned on this week or wanted for that matter, but I am taking it as God’s incredible pace…God saying it’s ok to slow down…your body needs rest.
