Yesterday we talked about saying no…today we are going to talk about saying yes. Not just any yes, but a yes to God.
There are so many things that we love to say yes to; our families, our hobbies, vacations, etc. Saying yes to God is more than all of our greatest yes’s…it is the ultimate yes. I was reminded of something today, my husband and I were riding in the car searching for a song that he could sing in church on Sunday morning. When we came to a song called “Recovery” by Unspoken…He said I need to do this song and the first thing that came to mind is, I need to say something.
You see God truly is my recovery…I am not a perfect example by any means but I truly am someone who was once very broken and God turned me into something I never thought possible. He took cracked and messed up and turned it into something whole and worthy. Saying yes to God when I was 19 was the best choice I ever made in my life…not to quote Lysa Terkeurst but it was and still is my best yes.
Something I can say with absolute certainty is that God has transformed my life and turned it into something far better than I ever saw for myself. He didn’t see what I saw in the mirror…and I am grateful that He didn’t.
I said yes to giving God my life when I was 19 but it wasn’t until I was 28 that I said yes to His calling. The calling He has given to write and speak, to share His Word with women. A calling that I feel unqualified for, but He equips. A calling that if it were left up to me would get totally messed up. I choose to say yes despite the fact that I had no idea where it will go or where He would lead. I said yes to Him even though it has been hard and has stretched my faith.
Saying yes is what God is asking of us, He isn’t asking us to figure it all out before we say yes and He isn’t looking for perfect. All He needs is our willingness…Are you willing to say yes to God?
