Scripture Reading: 1 Cor. 12:12-27
I am a Bible study girl; I love getting a group of women together and getting in the Word. There is nothing like the fellowship, the encouragement and even the tears that flow. There is something about being in a place where you can share your heart, a room filled with women who will wrap their arms around you and pray.
I love seeing the result of God moving and teaching in women’s lives, seeing a woman do what God created her to do is powerful. Each woman plays a part in the body of Christ; there is a job slated just for you.
But, I have begun to notice that each Bible study and each church has their group, their niche. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, what a blessing to have a group of women you can connect with and fellowship with…and in some cases women that you often do life with.
However, we have gotten to0 comfortable in those places. God has asked something else of us, an important task we often neglect without always knowing it; unity among the body of Christ. Gaining unity among women can often be like taming a wild tiger fresh from the jungle. We each have an opinion of how it needs to be done; we often think our ways are superior and our stubbornness causes more division than wholeness.
We have stopped giving God the room to be God, we haven’t allowed Him to work in, and through us every day, we have put up barriers and not allowed Him to show us other women who need to be invited in. Incredible women who need to be encouraged, loved on, and who desperately need to know that Jesus loves them, mess and all.
Maybe you are the woman who never felt like she fit anywhere, never felt like she had a place, or never felt invited in. Consider these words your invitation; there is a group of women in your community ready and willing to invite you in. But, even more than that there is a Father in Heaven who loves you, who has extended the ultimate invitation to you, the invitation to have a relationship with Him. You are incredibly loved, friend. Jesus has arms open ready to invite you in.
If you are a woman who has found a beautiful community of women you can get into the Word with, women who pray for you, encourage you, and love you well; don’t forget to invite new women in, women who need it just as much as you do. We must be a community, band together to get in the pages of Scriptures, be about the business of Jesus and watch women change because of Christ and His Word…don’t keep that precious gift all to yourself.
