This year has not started out how I thought it would. I have strongly contemplated a do-over more than a few times, and quite honestly I was thrilled to see January go. The wind of a new month felt like fresh air as January was starting to suffocate me.
Most of us start our new year with great anticipation, we plan, set goals, and dream; only to find that it never really works out the way that we hoped it would. I don’t know that I have ever had a January quite like this. In a sense, I feel like I have been hit in the gut with a fast flying curveball. Maybe that is too dramatic, but let’s just go with it.
There is something about life and the curve balls that get thrown at us. I am learning that it isn’t really about the ball being thrown, but about how we respond when it comes toward us, or the outcry when it hits us square in the chest.
It may be a new year, but He is the same God. He hasn’t changed, and the challenges that will come our way are no surprise to Him. He knows each curveball and every response we will have to them. He knows if we will dodge left or right, or take a direct hit. He knows if they will cause us discomfort, pain, even joy or excitement. God knows the result of every circumstance.
The beauty of God knowing, is that we can trust it is for our good. The curveball may not feel good, but the benefits will be more than we can count.
Whatever you are facing right now, God sees you.
Whatever is hurting you right now, God knows your pain.
Whatever uncertainty lies ahead, God is already on the other side pulling you through.
Whatever broken heart your facing, God is stitching it back together with His own hands.
Don’t write off the new year just yet, because God still has work to do.
