It’s been longer than I’d like since I put pen to paper and wrote something. Sure, I have made to do lists, jotted thoughts, but it has been far too long since I’ve had the words to put here for you.
The words just haven’t been there because God has been doing a work in me. He has needed to polish a few rust places, heal open wounds from transitions, and refresh my mind after a very challenging season. My heart needed it, I owed it to all the future words I will put down on paper.
God allows seasons that are for us to be still and quiet with Him. He allows pockets of space where no one else needs to see what’s happening, and nothing needs to be shared.
So that’s where I’ve been.
Alone with God.
Leaning in and learning.
Rejoicing in Gods faithfulness and watching Him do a work in my family.
So here we go…
A new year, a fresh start, a beginning…this place where we can begin again and open God’s Word and let it transform our hearts. We don’t want them to be mere words, we want them to change us. We must desire for them to move us from death to life or we are reading it for the wrong reasons.
We begun the year in part one of our three-year reading plan, and we have landed at the beginning of Scripture which is so fitting.
We are sitting at the begging of:
- of all things
- of human life
- of marriage
- of families
- of sin
When we open Genesis, we can’t help but be reminded of the goodness and faithfulness of the Father. In the first 14 chapters of Genesis we come to know this of God:
- He is our Creator
- He is our Protector
- He is our Sustainer
- He is El roi the God who sees
- He is God Almighty our Eternal God
How generous of God to reveal himself to us from the very beginning of Scripture. He is not a hidden God out of sight, but a God who is very much real, alive, and woven in ALL things.
This place of beginnings is familiar, just like a new year. We have done it all before, we have read it all before but each time God shows us something new. He reveals new truths to us. Never be afraid that there is nothing new to learn in starting again, because even in the familiar God will speak and reveal himself to us in new ways.
Maybe you haven’t joined us because you’ve read it all before, but let’s start fresh with new eyes at the beginning. There is still time to grab the reading plan and simply begin!
